A Puerto Rican-Ecuadorian girl who grew up in Yonkers, NY. Nancy first became acquainted with the Art scene in High School. This was the doorway to her long life dream; becoming the artist she envision since she was a child.
Her unique style was conceived through the many years of watching horror movies, comics, writing graffiti and listening to eclectic music. A free spirited and chaotically harmonized being of immersed dimension. Her work defies any rules or boundaries one’s mind can envision. Her brain is like a never-ending horizon that could only be partially understood through her unique approach of mixed media usage and raw emotions.
Her Art at best can represent a vibrant surreal mysterious world, inviting the viewer to move into a space of speculation, lost in a universe of colors and forms. Her work embodies a vibrant cryptic realm with torment and absurdity. By juxtaposing these two conflicting moods, Nancy makes her works more personal to her viewers, forcing them to project their own feelings and emotions onto each character in her twisted creation.
After graduating from Saunders Trades & Technical H.S. She clearly needed to satisfy her endless thirst for drawing and painting, she was accepted at Fashion Institute of Technology where she obtained her BFA. Wanting to further more her career she attained a MA in Art ED from Lehman College. It has been through art that she has been able to find the meaning of life.
As the master Dali said, “Surrealism is destructive, but it destroys only what it considers to be shackles limiting our vision”.
What would be of us if we didn’t challenge what we think, what we dream...
